Harnett Correctional Institution Offender Dies After an Assault

 An offender housed at Harnett Correctional Institution died this morning after being assaulted by other offenders. 

The Lillington Police Department has charged Isaiah McKoy (#1696910) with first degree murder in the death of Christian Bridges (#1714945). 

The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Friday in a dormitory at Harnett CI. The prison's first responders and local EMS responded, but Bridges died enroute to a local hospital shortly after midnight. 

Lillington Police Department is investigating with assistance from the State Bureau of Investigation. The Department of Adult Correction is conducting an internal investigation. Additional charges may be filed as the criminal investigation proceeds.
