One Fatality in Single Vehicle Crash Near Emmett

GEM COUNTY, Idaho – Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred on September 2, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM on Montour Road near State Highway 52, East of Emmett.

A 2004 Ford Excursion was travelling northbound on Montour Road. While negotiating a curve, the vehicle overcorrected and slid off the roadway then rolled. Both occupants were ejected, and the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames when it came to rest.

One occupant, a 45-year-old male from Great Falls, Montana, succumbed to his injuries on scene. The other occupant, a 42-year-old male from Emmett, Idaho, was taken by air ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Montour Road was blocked for approximately four and a half hours.

This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
