Doctors Without Borders Says Gaza Faces Worsening Humanitarian Conditions

(MENAFN) Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said Monday that Israel was continuing what it described as genocide in Gaza and warned that the situation was "progressively asphyxiating" the territory, calling on governments to respond immediately.

In a statement, the medical organization said the basic conditions required for people to survive were being "systematically destroyed" through continued violence, a "deliberate" blockade of essential supplies, and extensive damage to healthcare facilities and civilian infrastructure.

"In the past year, the physical trapping of people in Gaza has been made increasingly definitive by the establishment of Israel’s Yellow Line," the organization said.

MSF recalled that the Yellow Line had initially been described as a temporary measure. However, it said the boundary has since been reinforced with military positions and earthworks, while demolitions have continued and the line has progressively shifted westward, "squeezing people into a smaller and smaller area."

The organization said Palestinians face the risk of being shot by Israeli forces when approaching the area, while its medical teams continue treating people injured by gunfire in nearby locations.

"The Yellow Line cannot be treated simply as a line on a map," said Amande Bazerolle, MSF head of emergency response in Gaza. "It has become a mechanism of encirclement and ethnic cleansing, while cutting communities off from the infrastructure, healthcare, water and other essentials they need to survive."
