Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms Earns Joint Commission Hospital Reaccreditation
TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif.— Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms received The Joint Commission's Hospital Accreditation and Patient-Centered Medical Home Certification following an official survey conducted in October 2026, reaffirming the military treatment facility's commitment to providing safe, high-quality healthcare to service members, their families and other beneficiaries.
The Joint Commission is an independent, nonprofit organization that accredits and certifies healthcare organizations across the United States. Its evaluations assess organizations against established standards for patient safety, quality of care and organizational performance.
The accreditation, valid for three years, recognizes the hospital's compliance with national healthcare standards, including clinical practices, infection prevention and control protocols, and National Patient Safety Goals. The Patient-Centered Medical Home Certification further recognizes the hospital's commitment to coordinated, patient-centered primary care.
The achievement follows the hospital's mental health department earning reaccreditation with zero findings in September through The Joint Commission's Behavioral Health Care and Human Services Accreditation Program.
"These achievements reflect the dedication of our staff to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety," said Teresa Turbyfill, quality management department head. "Accreditation is not simply about meeting standards during a survey. It is about continuously evaluating and improving the care we provide to our patients every day."
Capt. Janiese Cleckley, commanding officer of Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Twentynine Palms and director of Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, emphasized the collective effort behind the achievement.
"This reaccreditation is a reflection of the professionalism, dedication and hard work of our entire team," Cleckley said. "Every department plays a role in ensuring our patients receive the safe, reliable and compassionate care they deserve. I am incredibly proud of our staff and their continued commitment to excellence. Our providers, nurses, healthcare administrators, hospital corpsmen, support staff and civilians are vital to our mission. We are proud to serve those entrusted to us and to do so as an accredited institution."
