Naval Hospital Rota Logistics Team Earns Top European Ranking
ROTA, Spain— U.S. Naval Hospital Rota announced Oct. 5, 2026, that its Medical Logistics Department and Directorate of Resource Management achieved a 99.99 percent budget execution rate for fiscal year 2026.
The Medical Logistics Department, known as MEDLOG, also ranked No. 1 in the European area of responsibility and No. 10 among 129 MEDLOG activities across the Defense Health Agency enterprise worldwide. The rankings reflect the team’s performance while navigating the geographic and supply-chain challenges of an overseas environment.
“I am truly humbled to work alongside the hardworking and dedicated MEDLOG and DRM staff,” said Lt. Cmdr. Ramon Gavan, head of the Materiel Management Department. “My team is often invisible when logistics works perfectly, but every number of this 99.99% score represents life-saving equipment in the MOR, sterile medical supplies in our MSW, and medical consumables ready to assist our ships at a moment’s notice.”
Throughout the fiscal year, MEDLOG and resource management personnel aligned purchasing priorities and available funding with hospital requirements. Their coordination helped ensure medical supplies and equipment were available for clinical departments, ships and tenant commands.
“The speed and reliability of our medical supplies directly impact our daily hospital operations and high-stakes operational readiness for the fleet and our tenant commands,” Gavan said.
The fiscal year closeout capped a year of work connecting financial stewardship with medical logistics to sustain patient care and support the fleet.
Strategically positioned on the Iberian Peninsula, the hospital plays a critical role in defending, restoring, and elevating the health of warfighters and their families. USNH Rota provides ready, reliable care to 8,400 service members and their families.
